Pousada Porto Imperial

The Porto Imperial Inn is an authentic 18th century colonial house, which originally sheltered a busy Arabian market where the Minas Gerais gold was sold. After that, it became the first theater in town; and much later, its natural vocation as the first Inn in Paraty. You will find a collection of typical Brazilian artwork: ceramic, tapestries, colonial furniture, antiquities and much more. The artists from Paraty are represented by many of the paintings that decorate the rooms.

The totally preserved colonial main house deserves prominence. The stonewalls, the shape of the windows and doors, the retreats and many rooms, will take you on a trip back in time. The inn offers a carriage, which is used for tours through the historical area of the city. This service is available during the week except on Mondays for the guests and it is free of charges.
